Most bankruptcy cases pass through the bankruptcy process with little objection by creditors. Because the bankruptcy system is encoded into U.S. law and companies can prepare for some debts to discharge through it, creditors usually accept discharge and generally have little standing to contest it.

Secured debts can be discharged in bankruptcy, but that doesn't mean you get to keep the collateral for free. Most secured debt in Chapter 7 is discharged unless you reaffirm the debt. Even though the Chapter 7 discharge wipes out your personal liability for the debt, the debt is still attached to the collateral.

You can only receive a chapter 7 discharge once every eight years. Other rules may apply if you previously received a discharge in a chapter 13 case. No one can make you pay a debt that has been discharged, but you can voluntarily pay any debt you wish to pay.

A Chapter 7 bankruptcy wipes out your financial debt, including your mortgage, but you could lose your house. A Chapter 13 bankruptcy is more of a reorganization, and you can even catch up on payments as long as these are included in your plan.

To view records of criminal cases online, visit the CourtNet 2.0 portal of the Kentucky Court of Justice website. Search for case files by providing a case number, name of one party involved in the trial, or a citation number. Select Criminal from the Case Category menu and choose a county to restrict your search.

The nature of the proceeding is abbreviated by a letter code. For example, ?R? stands for a Rate case, and "RM" is a Rulemaking case. The letter code is then followed by the current year and the number of the case for that year. For example the 2nd rate case for FY2009 would be Docket R2009-2.
