For both open account and written contracts, the statute begins to run from the date of default. Kentucky Judgments (both domestic and foreign judgments domesticated in Kentucky) are valid for fifteen (15) years and can be renewed.

A copy of any foreign judgment authenticated in ance with the Act of Congress or the statutes of this state may be filed in the office of the clerk of any court of competent jurisdiction of this state. The clerk shall treat the foreign judgment in the same manner as a judgment of any court of this state.

For a non-reciprocating territory, a foreign judgment may be enforced by filing a new suit in an Indian court within a period of three years as specified under the Limitation Act, 1963, commencing from the date on which the judgment was passed by the foreign court.

And some states also allow judgment liens on the debtor's personal property -- things like jewelry, art, antiques, and other valuables. In Kentucky, a judgment lien can be attached to real estate only (i.e., a house or similar property interest).
