There is no waiting period to get married in Kentucky. You can receive your marriage license and get married on the same day, but the license is only valid for 30 days after issuance.

The marriage license is valid anywhere in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Both must present a primary form of photo ID, such as a driver's license, passport, or government-issued picture ID. There is a $50.00 fee for the license. (Payable by cash or card-vendor fees apply).

The Kentucky OVS has marriage and divorce records since June 1, 1958. Marriage records are also available from the County Court Clerk in the county in which the license was issued. Divorce records are also available from the Circuit Court Clerk in the county in which the divorce was granted.

There is no statutory waiting period, meaning the license may be issued the same day. However, the license is only valid for 30 days, meaning the parties must have the marriage ceremony within 30 days or another marriage license would need to be obtained. KRS 402.105.

So long as you are both at least 18 years old and you have a valid ID, you do not need to bring documents such as your birth certificate or your Social Security card. Also, if you have been divorced, you do not need to bring your divorce decree.
