South Carolina law requires a bill of sale only when the sales price and odometer reading cannot be included on the back of the vehicle title. If this is the case, then a Bill of Sale should have the following information on it: Year, Make and Model of the Vehicle.

To register in person, visit a local SCDMV office and provide: A completed Application for Certificate of Title and Registration for Motor Vehicle or Manufactured Home/Mobile Home (Form 400). The name of your auto insurance company. The SCDMV will verify coverage electronically.

First assignment completed on title: buyer's name and address, lienholder information (if applicable), odometer reading, sales price, date of sale, seller's signature, buyer's signature. If assignment on title does not have section for sales price, a bill of sale must accompany paperwork.
