Federal case files are maintained electronically and are available through the internet-based Public Access to Court Electronic Records (PACER) service. PACER allows anyone with an account to search and locate appellate, district, and bankruptcy court case and docket information.

In essence, the court first looks at the economic need of the party seeking spousal support. The court measures this need by comparing the monthly income of the person seeking alimony with their monthly expenses. The shortfall between a party's income and their expenses is that party's economic need.

How do I get a copy of a court file? You may obtain copies via mail, make your request on the internet using the Electronic Records Request application, ECR ONLINE application or come in person. Sealed records are not available by mail or via the Electronic Records Request or ECR ONLINE application.

Many Washington State courts have a public access terminal in the courthouse where you can view JIS public record case information such as an index of filed cases and a list of documents filed in each case. Contact your local court to see if they have a public access terminal.

Court users and members of the public can get copies of judgments and sentencing remarks handed down by the Supreme Court of Western Australia. The decisions are hosted on the eCourts Portal of Western Australia. Please note that Sentencing Remarks only remain on the eCourts Portal for 28 days.
