The Statewide Elder Rights Coalition was formed in 1997 to promote elder rights advocacy, coordinate the Older Americans Act programs under Title IIIB Legal Services; and Title VII Prevention of Elder Abuse, Neglect and Financial Exploitation.

Mandatory Reporters: People in certain professions must, by law, report if they suspect abuse, neglect, self-neglect or exploitation. They include: Doctors, physician's assistants, other medical personnel. Psychologists and other mental health professionals.

Senior adult means any person sixty-five years of age or older. Abuse means any knowing or intentional act on the part of a caregiver or any other person which results in physical injury, unreasonable confinement, cruel punishment, sexual abuse, or sexual exploitation of a vulnerable adult. § 28-354.
