Marriage License Application. Couples wishing to get married in Florida may apply for a license online or in-person at one of our office locations. Both parties must apply at the same time (whether in-person at one of our locations or applying online through a video conference).

You can request certified copies online, by mail or in-person for marriage licenses issued in Miami Dade County, Florida. If your marriage license was obtained in another county or state, you can visit the State of Florida Vital Statistics Office or call 904-359-6900 to obtain ordering information.

Marriage license applications are issued the same day as requested as long as all requirements are met. But there is a 3-day waiting period to be married for couples who live in Florida but do not provide proof that they have completed a premarital preparation course.

You'll have to head to the nearest clerk of the circuit court office for a marriage license, which will cost you $93.50 (or $61 if both partners are Florida residents and have completed a premarital preparation course, which will also let you skip the 3-day waiting period. It will then be recorded in the county Official Records and an official copy sent to the new couple. The fee for a marriage license is $86.00.

Marriage license records from 1972 to present are viewable online. Go to Online Search of Official Records, and enter either spouse's name at the time of marriage (Record Type for this search is MAR). There is no charge to view a marriage document in person or online.
