Only six felonies in Mississippi can be expunged: drug possession, larceny, bad check crimes, false pretenses, shoplifting, and malicious mischief.

The felony convictions that may be expunged from a person's record in Mississippi include: a bad check offense under Section 97-19-55; possession of a controlled substance or paraphernalia under Section 41-29-139(c)(d); false pretense under Section 97-19-39; larceny under Section 97-17-41;

House Bill 122. AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 99-19-71, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO AUTHORIZE EXPUNGEMENT FOR UP TO THREE FELONY CONVICTIONS IF 15 YEARS OR MORE HAVE PASSED SINCE A PERSON'S LAST FELONY CONVICTION; TO PROVIDE RESTRICTIONS FOR SUCH EXPUNGEMENT; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

Five years after completing the term, you are eligible to petition to expunge your record. The standard filling fee for expungement is under $150 under the state statute, plus the costs of hiring an attorney. You must retain a Mississippi expungement lawyer or attorney and a Petition for Expungement must be filed.

Upon petition to the Court, Mississippi law requires the Court to expunge the record of any case in which an arrest was made, the person arrested was released and the case was dismissed or the charges were dropped or there was no disposition of the case. Miss. Code Ann. § 99-19-71(4).
