Ratio requirements One caregiver for up to four children () with a maximum of four of the children under age two. One caregiver for five to six children (-6) with a maximum of three of the children under age two. One caregiver for seven to 10 children (-10) with a maximum of two of the children under age two.

In Missouri, all daycare center employees must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent. Additionally, all employees must undergo a background check and complete 16 hours of child development training within their first year of employment.

Low-income Missourians are eligible for childcare assistance on a sliding fee scale if their income is below 138% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) - or $28,180 for a single mother with two children. Over 63,296 children received child care through this program in FY2017.
