Each party must show a valid driver's license, a valid state identification card, a valid passport or valid military identification. Both parties must provide their Social Security numbers. If either party has been previously married, the party must provide the date his or her last marriage ended.

If either person has been married previously, he or she needs to have the date when the divorce was final or proof of the divorce if it was granted recently. To be valid, an official listed in the Family Code must perform the ceremony, such as an ordained minister, a Florida judge, or clerk of the court.

If either person was married before, the manner in which the last marriage ended and the exact date the marriage ended are needed. Copies of the death certificate, final decree of divorce, annulment or blood test are not required. You do not have to be a resident of Florida to apply.

Both spouses are required to appear in person at any of our office locations to have the amended marriage license issued. You are required to provide documentation to support any information that is changed (If spelling of a name is amended you will need to provide a birth certificate as proof of spelling).

It will then be recorded in the county Official Records and an official copy sent to the new couple. The fee for a marriage license is $86.00. There is an exception if both parties are Florida residents and have provided proof of attendance at a premarital class given by a certified provider. The fee is reduced to $61.
