Has been convicted of the following misdemeanors: stalking; cyberstalking; cyber harassment; harassment; aiming or discharging a firearm; unlawful carrying or handling of a firearm; animal cruelty in the second degree; and certain DUI offenses if committed within 7 years of a previous offense.

For you to be eligible for firearms restoration, you must be crime-free for at least five years since the felony conviction that resulted in your loss of gun rights. If the conviction was for a misdemeanor, the period is three years. That means there cannot be any warrants for your arrest or pending charges.

All firearm purchases or transfers require a background check*. You will come in and fill out a Federal Firearm Transaction Record (4473) and a Washington State DOL Firearms Transfer Application (for handguns and semi-automatic rifles).

Open Carry is legal but you must have a valid permit/license to carry a loaded handgun in any vehicle in Washington. This includes cars, buses and trains. You can keep the firearm holstered with empty chamber on your hip in your vehicle (can't be concealed) but the loaded mag must be removed.

You can petition to restore your firearm rights once you have spent at least five (5) consecutive years in the community without having been convicted of a crime. Under RCW 9.41. 040(4), being "in the community" means not being incarcerated in jail or prison.
