The Mississippi lemon law requires a manufacturer replacing a nonconforming vehicle to provide a comparable vehicle acceptable to the consumer. The lemon law defines ?comparable? as identical or a reasonably equivalent vehicle. The consumer must pay a reasonable allowance for use of a replacement vehicle.

VEHICLES COVERED The Mississippi lemon law covers motor vehicles that are sold in Mississippi, operated over Mississippi's public streets and highways, and used to transport persons or property. This includes demonstrator and lease-purchase vehicles if they were sold with a manufacturer's warranty.

The consumer must IN WRITING notify the manufacturer about the defect. The manufacturer will then recommend a reasonably accessible repair facility. After the car has been delivered to the repair facility, the manufacturer will have 10 working days to repair the vehicle.

If the consumer has already allowed three or more previous attempts, the manufacturer is given a final opportunity to fix the problem.

Mississippi and Federal Lemon Laws The dealer cannot keep trying to fix the car to run out of the clock. If they make three unsuccessful attempts to repair the car or the vehicle is out of service for 15 or more days, the dealer must replace it or buy it back from you.

The Alabama Lemon Law says that if you win, the manufacturer has to pay your lawyer's fee. Most times when you buy a new car, you will have to sign an arbitration agreement. This may mean you will have to take your case to an arbitrator instead of going to court.
