The arbitration of claims can take several different forms in Pennsylvania, but can be generally categorized as either compulsory judicial arbitration. The rules governing arbitration have recently changed in Pennsylvania.The older law, the UAA or Uniform Arbitration Act, was adopted in 1980. In the event a grievance cannot be resolved, some labor contracts allow for arbitration to settle the grievance. Cases must be filed in the Office of the Prothonotary.
