This seminar will introduce students to the law of armed conflict (LOAC), also known as international humanitarian law (IHL), with a focus on jus in bello. The two foundational questions in examining any armed conflict have been addressed. The first is: What is the conflict status? Fundamental values and principles of conduct in the profession of arms. International Humanitarian Law (IHL) can be defined as the branch of international law limiting the use of violence in armed conflicts. A robust international law that protects animals in times of armed conflict may be the wake-up call that humanity needs. In the territory of Parties to the conflict, the application of the present Convention shall cease on the general close of military operations.
