The Church Conference is held. The Disaffiliation Resolution must be approved by 2/3 professing members in attendance. If disaffiliation is approved, the matter is turned over to the Conference Trustees. If disaffiliation is not approved, the process concludes.

If a pastor is informed that a member has without notice united with a church of another denomination, the pastor shall make diligent inquiry. You can do is to end your membership in The UMC.The Book of Discipline provides that members can be removed from the membership role if they "transfer, die or have withdrawn from membership." If the member does not comply with any of the available alternatives over a period of two years, the member's name may be removed. In the case of discontinuation without consent, the provisional member may request a fair process hearing.
