OSHA recommends that workers tell their supervisors if they have tested positive for COVID-19 so that employers can take steps to protect other workers. Such steps can include cleaning and disinfection and removing or isolating the COVID-19 positive worker (e.g., by allowing that worker to telework).

Once a COVID-19 case is identified at the workplace, the employer must: If the individual is symptomatic, immediately exclude the case from the workplace until they meet all return to work criteria (see Exclusion Requirements and Return to Work below). If the case is asymptomatic, exclusion is not required.

In ance with guidance from the CDC, if you test positive for COVID-19 you should: Isolate for 5 days regardless of vaccination status. Only leave isolation after 5 days if you have no symptoms or your symptoms are improving, including at least 24 hours without a fever.

Please continue to protect yourself and others from COVID-19. Remember to stay home if you have cold or flu symptoms, wear a mask as needed, and stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccinations. There are currently no rules in WA that require you to self-isolate if you test positive for COVID-19.

Instruct any workers who are infected, unvaccinated workers who have had close contact with someone who tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, and all workers with COVID-19 symptoms to stay home from work to prevent or reduce the risk of transmission of the virus that causes COVID-19.

If you have symptoms, regardless of vaccination status, you should stay home and away from others to help prevent others from becoming sick.

If the day 6-, 7-, 8-, or 9-day test comes back negative, whichever day comes first, you can return to work the following day, pending resolving symptoms and no fever for 24 hours. If your day 6-, 7-, 8-, or 9- test comes back positive, you must remain in isolation until the following day.
