Alaska Anchorage Wellness Felony DUI Court is a specialized court designed to provide intensive supervision and treatment for individuals convicted of felony driving under the influence (DUI). The program assists individuals in making positive changes in their lives by promoting sobriety, accountability, and increased responsibility. The program also serves to reduce recidivism and criminal activity in the community. The court consists of two components: the Court Treatment Team (CTT) and the Wellness Court. The CTT is a multi-disciplinary team made up of representatives from the Alaska Department of Corrections, the Anchorage District Attorney's Office, the Anchorage Police Department, the Anchorage Public Defender's Office, the Anchorage Probation Office, and the Alaska Court System. The CTT assists in developing individualized treatment plans for each participant and provides ongoing monitoring and feedback throughout the program. The Wellness Court provides participants with alcohol and substance abuse treatment, cognitive behavioral therapy, and other evidence-based interventions. Participants must appear before the court on a regular basis to demonstrate progress and compliance with their treatment plans. Alaska Anchorage Wellness Felony DUI Court is a voluntary program for eligible individuals and is designed to be an alternative to traditional criminal sentencing.
