Arizona Paternity — Petition is a legal document used to establish the paternity of a child in the state of Arizona. It is typically filed by an unwed mother in family court in order to establish the legal father of her child and to obtain the rights and responsibilities of fatherhood, including custody, visitation, and child support. There are two types of Arizona Paternity — Petition: Voluntary Acknowledgement of Paternity and Petition to Establish Paternity. The Voluntary Acknowledgement of Paternity is a form that is signed by both the mother and father, often with the assistance of a qualified family law attorney, in order to establish paternity without going to court. The Petition to Establish Paternity is a legal document filed in family court by either the mother or the father in order to establish paternity when the father does not sign the Voluntary Acknowledgement of Paternity.
