Georgia Verification (For Response To Citation Of Contempt) is a process that allows a person to verify to a court that they were served with a citation of contempt in the state of Georgia. This verification is usually done by filing a written response with the court that includes the name of the person served, the date of service, the manner of service, the name of the person who served the citation, the address where the person was served, and the signature of the person who served the citation. There are two types of Georgia Verification: Personal Service Verification and Substitute Service Verification. Personal Service Verification occurs when the court papers are personally served to the defendant, either by a sheriff’s deputy, a court officer, a process server, or someone else authorized to serve the citation. Substitute Service Verification occurs when the court papers are served to an adult living with the defendant, or at the defendant’s place of employment or business.
