The Maryland Complaint For Visitation is a court document which is filed by one parent (the Petitioner) who is requesting visitation rights (also known as parenting time) with their child or children from the other parent (the Respondent). This document is used in the state of Maryland when a parent wishes to establish their right to visit their child or children; it is usually filed when the Petitioner and Respondent are not married, or when the Petitioner and Respondent have been divorced or separated. There are two types of Maryland Complaint For Visitation: the first is a Complaint For Visitation Pursuant to Family Law Article (FLA) § 9-102, and the second is a Complaint For Visitation Pursuant to FLA § 9-104. The Complaint For Visitation Pursuant to FLA § 9-102 is usually filed when the Petitioner and Respondent have not been married in the past, while the Complaint For Visitation Pursuant to FLA § 9-104 is typically filed when the parties were married or were in a relationship prior to the filing of the complaint. Both types of Complaints must include information about the Petitioner and Respondent, the child or children affected by the complaint, and the parenting time requested.
