The Missouri Sheriff Ride-Along Application is a program designed to provide citizens with an opportunity to observe the daily operations of local law enforcement. Participants can observe the operations of a sheriff's office in a safe and controlled environment. There are several types of Missouri Sheriff Ride-Along Applications, including the Standard Ride-Along Application, the Advanced Ride-Along Application, and the Reserve Ride-Along Application. The Standard Ride-Along Application is the most basic form of the program, allowing citizens to observe a single shift, typically no longer than 8 hours, with a sheriff’s deputy. The Advanced Ride-Along Application allows citizens to observe multiple shifts, up to 24 hours in total, with a sheriff’s deputy. The Reserve Ride-Along Application is available to those with prior law enforcement experience and allows citizens to observe multiple shifts, up to 72 hours in total, with a sheriff’s deputy. All participants must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid driver’s license. Participants must also agree to certain safety rules and abide by the policies and procedures of the sheriff’s office.
