North Carolina Certification as Student Practitioner is a state-level certification offered by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (INCHES) that allows individuals to provide health and human services to clients in North Carolina. This certification is designed for students who have completed a professional degree program in health care, social work, or a related field and who are interested in working in a clinical setting. There are two types of North Carolina Certification as Student Practitioner: Limited Authorization and Full Authorization. Limited Authorization allows the student practitioner to provide services in a professional setting with supervision by a licensed professional. It is designed for students who are still in their professional degree program and have not yet completed the required number of hours of supervised practice. Full Authorization allows the student practitioner to provide services in a professional setting without the need for supervision. It is designed for students who have completed their professional degree program and have completed the required number of hours of supervised practice. In order to obtain North Carolina Certification as Student Practitioner, students must meet certain requirements, including passing a criminal background check and completing an application.
