The Oklahoma Sign Language Registry (OSLO) is a state-run program that was established in 2018 to provide support and resources for American Sign Language (ASL) users. The OSLO is designed to recognize and acknowledge the use of ASL as a language and to provide individuals with the opportunity to register as an ASL user. The OSLO is a free program open to anyone who uses ASL, regardless of their level of proficiency. The Registry includes two separate types of registration: the Standard Registration and the Verified Registration. The Standard Registration requires an individual to complete an online application and provide basic information, such as name, address, and contact information. This registration does not require any proof of ASL proficiency, and is open to anyone who wishes to register. The Verified Registration requires a candidate to complete the same online application as the Standard Registration, but also requires the candidate to submit a video of themselves signing in ASL. This registration provides a higher level of recognition for ASL users, and is open to anyone who can demonstrate the ability to communicate in ASL. The OSLO is designed to provide support and resources for ASL users in Oklahoma, and to recognize the use of ASL as a language.
