The Oklahoma Notice of Original Jurisdiction Supreme Court Proceeding is a formal document used to initiate a lawsuit in the Oklahoma Supreme Court. This document is filed with the Supreme Court Clerk by the Plaintiff(s) and typically contains the names of the parties involved, the case caption, a statement of facts, the legal issues to be decided, and the relief sought. There are three types of Oklahoma Notice of Original Jurisdiction Supreme Court Proceeding: Original Jurisdiction Proceeding, Special Proceeding, and Assigned Proceeding. An Original Jurisdiction Proceeding is the most common type and is used when the Supreme Court is the court of first instance for a case. A Special Proceeding is used when the Supreme Court is asked to exercise its powers outside its normal jurisdiction. An Assigned Proceeding is used when the Supreme Court is asked to hear a case it would not normally be able to hear. All three types of Notice of Original Jurisdiction Supreme Court Proceeding must be filed with the Supreme Court Clerk, and a copy must be served upon all parties involved in the case.
