Rhode Island Proof of Financial Responsibility is a type of motor vehicle insurance that is required in the state of Rhode Island. It is designed to provide the state with financial protection in case of an accident or incident involving a motor vehicle. This type of insurance is mandatory for all Rhode Island drivers and must be in place before a driver can register a vehicle or obtain a driver’s license. There are two types of Rhode Island Proof of Financial Responsibility: liability insurance and uninsured/under insured motorist coverage. Liability insurance covers property damage and bodily injury to others caused by the insured driver. Uninsured/under insured motorist coverage provides protection for the insured driver and their passengers if they are injured by an uninsured/under insured driver. In order for an insurance policy to meet the state’s standards for Rhode Island Proof of Financial Responsibility, the policy must include a minimum of $25,000 for property damage, $50,000 for bodily injury per person, and $25,000 for bodily injury per accident. The policy must also include a minimum of $25,000 for uninsured/under insured motorist coverage per person and $50,000 for uninsured/under insured motorist coverage per accident.
