South Carolina Abandonment of Property (Notice and Application) is a legal process by which a tenant can move out of a rental property and leave behind their personal belongings without being charged with abandonment or theft of property. The tenant is required to submit a written notice to the landlord, stating their intention to vacate the premises and providing a contact address for the landlord to send a notice of abandonment. The tenant is also responsible for providing the landlord with an application indicating the items they are leaving behind and the value of each item. If the notice and application are accepted, the landlord must store the items for a period of 30 days. After 30 days, the landlord can dispose of the items if the tenant does not pay the associated fees. There are two types of South Carolina Abandonment of Property (Notice and Application): Abandonment Notice and Abandonment Application. The Abandonment Notice must include the tenant’s name, address, contact information, and the date the tenant intends to vacate the premises. The Abandonment Application must list each item the tenant is leaving behind, its value, and any associated fees.
