A South Carolina Certificate of Technical Failure or Technical Difficulties is a document issued by the South Carolina Department of Revenue (SCOR) to taxpayers who are unable to electronically file their tax returns due to technical difficulties. It is a confirmation that the taxpayer has attempted to file their taxes but was unable to do so due to technical issues. There are two types of South Carolina Certificate of Technical Failure or Technical Difficulties: one for individual taxpayers and one for business taxpayers. The individual taxpayer version includes information such as the taxpayer's name, Social Security Number, filing status, and the date of attempted filing. The business taxpayer version includes information such as the business name, Federal Employer Identification Number, filing status, and the date of attempted filing. Both versions require the taxpayer to provide supporting documents demonstrating that they attempted to file their return and experienced a technical failure.
