The Tennessee MIR Application for Appointment to the Medical Impairment Rating Registry is an application process for medical professionals to become certified as Medical Impairment Rating (MIR) physicians. Physicians who are certified as MIR physicians are authorized to provide impairment ratings to injured workers in accordance with the regulations of the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development. This application process consists of three parts: Part A (Application), Part B (Qualifying Examination) and Part C (Ongoing Education). In Part A, applicants provide basic information about their background, experience, and qualifications, and submit required documents. In Part B, applicants must pass a qualifying examination to demonstrate their knowledge of the Tennessee Workers’ Compensation law. Finally, in Part C, applicants must commit to completing ongoing education requirements to maintain their MIR certification. There are two types of Tennessee MIR Applications for Appointment to the Medical Impairment Rating Registry: one for initial certification and one for re-certification. An initial certification application is for applicants who are new to the MIR registry and have not previously been certified. A re-certification application is for applicants who have previously held a MIR certification and wish to renew it.
