A Request for Information on Credit Hold is a formal request for information regarding the status of a customer's credit account. This request typically includes details such as the customer's name, address, and account number. It also typically includes the customer's current credit status, including any holds or restrictions that are affecting the customer’s credit. This request is usually made by a lender or creditor to a consumer so the lender or creditor can determine if the consumer is a viable credit risk. There are four types of Requests for Information on Credit Hold: Pre-Approval, Credit Review, Credit Reinstatement, and Credit Dispute. The Pre-Approval request is made to determine if the consumer's credit is good enough to make the loan, the Credit Review request is made to review the consumer's current credit status, the Credit Reinstatement request is made to re-establish a consumer's credit standing, and the Credit Dispute request is made to resolve any discrepancies or inaccuracies between the consumer's credit report and the lender's records.
