A Complaint for Violation of Civil Rights (Non-Prisoner) is a legal document filed in court by a person who believes their rights have been violated. The complaint typically alleges that a person, business, or government entity has violated a civil right protected by law. Some examples of civil rights violations include discrimination based on race, gender, age, religion, national origin, or disability; denial of due process; interference with free speech; and denial of access to public services or public accommodations. There are two main types of Complaints for Violation of Civil Rights (Non-Prisoner): Title VII and Section 1983. Title VII complaints allege violations of rights protected by the federal Civil Rights Act of 1964. Section 1983 complaints allege violations of rights protected by other federal laws, such as the First Amendment, the Fourth Amendment, and the Fourteenth Amendment.
