A False Statement to a Bank / 18 U.S.C. Sec. 1014 is a federal law that makes it a crime to knowingly make any false statement or report, or to willfully overvalue any land, property or security, in any application, agreement, or document submitted to a bank, or to any officer, director, employee, agent, or agency of a bank, for the purpose of influencing in any way the action of the bank. The two types of False Statement to a Bank / 18 U.S.C. Sec. 1014 are: 1) False Statements and Reports and 2) Willful Overvaluation of Land, Property or Security. False Statements and Reports are any false statements made to a bank, or to any officer, director, employee, agent, or agency of a bank, for the purpose of influencing the action of the bank.
