This law applies to any goods, wares, or merchandise that has a value of more than $5,000, and can result in a fine and/or imprisonment. There are two types of crimes under 2.83 Sale or Receipt of Stolen Property 18 U.S.C. Sec. 2315 (First Paragraph): the crime of receiving stolen property, and the crime of disposing of stolen property. Receiving stolen property is prohibited under this law, and includes the knowing receipt, concealment, or storage of any stolen goods, wares, or merchandise with the intent to convert it to the receiver’s use or gain. Disposing of stolen property is prohibited under this law, and includes the bartering, selling, or disposing of any stolen goods, wares, or merchandise with the intent to convert it to the disposer’s use or gain.
