Sec. 1957 UNLAWFUL MONETARY TRANSACTIONS IN CRIMINALLY DERIVED PROPERTY is a federal law that prohibits the knowing, intentional, and willful conduct of any financial transaction involving funds that were obtained through criminal activity. The law applies to any individual who knowingly engages in a financial transaction involving any proceeds obtained directly or indirectly from specified unlawful activity, with the intent either to promote the carrying on of specified unlawful activity or to conceal or disguise the nature, source, location, or ownership of the criminally derived property. Different types of 18 U.S.C.
