Washington Response to Petition — Modification of Child Support is a legal document used by the court system in Washington State, which the noncustodial parent must fill out if they wish to change an existing order for child support payments. The noncustodial parent must provide information regarding why they are requesting the modification, such as a change in income, an increase or decrease in the number of children supported, or any other reason why the current order should be modified. The form must be filed with the court and served on the other parent. The Washington Response to Petition — Modification of Child Support can be either an Answer or an Answer and Counterclaim. An Answer is a document that either agrees or disagrees with the modification and explains why. An Answer and Counterclaim is a document that both agrees or disagrees with the modification, but also requests a modification in the other direction. If the court grants the modification, it will issue a new order reflecting the changes. The new order will be binding on both parties and must be followed by both parties.
