The Washington Notice of Ineligibility To Possess Firearm (WIN) is a form that is issued by the Washington State Department of Licensing to individuals who have been found to be ineligible to possess firearms under state and/or federal law. The WIN form is required by Washington state law and prohibits individuals from purchasing, possessing, or transferring any firearms or ammunition. There are two different types of Wins: 1. The Firearms Disqualification Notice (FAN): This notice is issued to individuals who are disqualified from owning firearms due to certain criminal convictions, mental health commitments, and/or certain juvenile adjudications. 2. The Firearms Prohibited Notice (FAN): This notice is issued to individuals with a known or suspected mental health disorder or drug or alcohol abuse problem that poses a risk of harm to themselves or others. The WIN form is issued by the Department of Licensing and is valid for five years from the date of issuance. Individuals who receive the WIN form must immediately surrender any firearms or ammunition in their possession and must not purchase, possess, or transfer any firearms or ammunition during the five-year period. Failure to comply with the WIN form can result in criminal charges.
