A merchandise warehouseman is an individual who is regularly engaged in the business of receiving and storing goods of others in exchange for compensation or profit. The business of warehousemen can be either public or private in nature because they may store either goods belonging to the general public or those goods of certain individuals. Article 7 of the Uniform Commercial Code sets forth the rights and liabilities of warehousemen.
