This one will hopefully come in handy next year when you want to make your holiday a bit more special than just a simple bar crawl. (I'm not a Dubliner. I was born in Scotland, went to Dublin for my secondary school education, and lived in Dublin's west side for a few years. But if I do have a Dublin connection, it's that my good Irish/English friend is of Irish descent.) St. Patrick's Day is an Irish holiday. Just like Irish holidays generally don't involve a big party with a lot of booze. St. Paddy's Day falls on April 25 and is also known as the 'sunny bank holiday'. (This is probably a reference to the fact that Ireland is in the Mediterranean and sun is the best medicine, no?) The celebration has various ways of commemorating St. Patrick's Day; some people celebrate with a baroque or keg stand (and in Ireland you have to be 21 before you can serve one), or go to Ireland's best St Patrick's Day parties.
