With guiding, girls have fun, adventure and the space to discover their potential. They go to their first ever sleepover, canoe on rivers, learn about body confidence, and lead their own camp. Or sometimes they simply have fun and try new things with friends.

Pathfinders – 12-14 years.

There are five branches of girl programming, by age: Sparks (ages 5 and 6) Brownies (ages 7 and 8) Guides (ages 9 to 11) Pathfinders (ages 12 to 14) Rangers (ages 15 to 17) Lones is an option for girls who are unable to attend regular meetings due to distance, health, studies or physical challenge.

As a Guide I will strive to: Respect myself and others. Be considerate, honest and trustworthy. Be friendly to others. Make choices for a better world. Use my time and abilities wisely.

The badges named after Australian gemstones: Turquoise, Topaz, Amethyst, Garnet, Agate, Zircon, Jade, Sapphire, Diamond, and Black Opal.

The Rainbow promise is a shortened version of the Brownie and Girl Guides' promise, adapted to accommodate the Rainbows' young age. The promise is: I promise that I will do my best, to think about my beliefs and to be kind and helpful.

Sparks don't have a Law or Motto, only a Promise and Sign.

You can earn as many as 32 badges at each branch level! And, if you're a Ember or a Guide, you'll also have a whole other set of badges to explore. You can find guidelines for how to earn badges in each branch on the program platform.

The Queen's Guide award is the highest accolade you can work towards in guiding. It gives girls the chance to develop their skills and have outdoors adventures while contributing to guiding and their local community.

All Girlguiding members are invited to make the same promise. "I promise that I will do my best, to be true to myself and develop my beliefs, to serve the King and my community, to help other people and to keep the (Brownie) Guide law."

What has changed? The entire Girlguiding programme has had a makeover and there are now over 800 new badges and activities for girls aged 5 to 18 to work towards. Rainbows (before Brownies) and Rangers (after Guides) can earn interest badges too now, so they can join in the fun.

The Promise (for Brownies, Guides, members of The Senior Section and adults) is: I promise that I will do my best: To be true to myself and develop my beliefs, To serve the Queen and my community, To help other people and To keep the (Brownie) Guide Law.
