The ADOS is a highly structured behavioral observation instrument for assessment of social interactions, communication, play, and imaginative use of toys. Each skill is rated on a scale from 0 to 3. The ADOS consists of five modules that are administered based on the individual's age and level of language development.

The Autism Social Skills Profile (ASSP) is a neW assessment tool that provides a comprehensive measure of social functioning in children and adolescents With ASD. The ASSP Was designed to assist With intervention planning and to provide a measure of intervention outcomes.

Included in the program are the topics of meeting/greeting people, taking responsibility, being polite and courteous, joining others in groups, apologizing/excusing self, following directions and handling criticism.

When the overall score reaches 68 points or higher, the child is classified as autistic;23,27 scores between 54 and 67 indicate a moderate probability of autism; scores between 47 and 53 are considered dubious for the classification of autism; and scores below 47 indicate that the child is typical.

The 49 items are rated on a 4-point Likert scale. The test yields three subscale scores: Social/Emotional Reciprocity (SER), Social Participation/Avoidance (SPA), and Detrimental Social Behaviors (DSB), as well as a total score.

Based on the ROC cut off score of 70, a diagnostic categorization of ISAA has been established which aids in the interpretation of total ISAA scores. Using this cut off level, individuals falling below the score of 70 are categorized as non autistic while those with score of 70 and above are categorized as autistic.
