Experienced Illinois Attorneys must complete 30 CLE credit hours (including 6 in Professional Responsibility credits) every two years. Of the 6 Professional Responsibility credits, at least 1 must be in Diversity and Inclusion, and at least 1 must be in Mental Health and Substance Abuse.

Active attorneys and attorneys registered for corporate status must complete 24 hours of accredited CLE activities every two years. Fulltime, part-time, and retired judges and magistrates must complete 40 hours of accredited CLE activities.

For several years now, the Wisconsin Supreme Court Rules have allowed Pro Bono work to be eligible for CLE credit. Under Chapter 31, attorneys may claim one general CLE hour for every five hours of pro bono legal services provided in a qualified pro bono program.
