Form I-765 Processing Times In general, it takes about 15 months for U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to process Form I-765. Previously, USCIS processed work permit applications within 4.3 months, but a growing backlog has caused additional delays.

Once you submit the evidence requested, expect the EAD to be processed within 60 to 90 days.

As soon as USCIS receives your Form I-765, you should get a receipt notice. The receipt lets you know that USCIS received the document – but nothing more. Then, you will receive a biometric services notice. This notice includes the date, time and location for your appointment at an Application Support Center, or ASC.

EAD – Employment Authorization Document When your I-765 application is approved, USCIS will issue you an Employment Authorization Document, referred to as an EAD. This document allows you to work in the U.S. while your green card application is being processed.
