The Air Force Academy is very competitive and has an acceptance rate of just 12%. To get accepted, you will need to be a strong candidate.

CURRICULUM REQUIREMENTS Core curriculum and an academic major Must maintain a minimum of 2.00 cumulative grade point average (GPA) – 2.00 GPA in the academic core and 2.00 GPA in major-specific coursework.

What is the advance the cadets must take out when they come to the Academy? Cadets earn approximately $1185.00 per month in basic pay. This covers the majority of school related expenses. However, most expenses are incurred within the first eight months (uniforms, computer, textbooks, etc.)

During the summer, cadets take required leadership programs, which are held at the Academy or other installations. Either before or after a leadership program, most cadets in the upper three classes have approximately three weeks of leave.

The U.S. Air Force Academy has five lakes at the main grounds and three additional lakes at the Farish Recreation Area where eligible patrons can enjoy a day of fishing in peaceful picturesque settings.

Cadets at the U.S. Air Force Academy face a rigorous schedule of academics, athletics, military training, high expectations, and strict rules of conduct. Cadets are constantly challenged physically and mentally.

Fourth-class cadets (freshmen) at the U.S. Air Force Academy are not authorized to have automobiles, so it will be the graduated cadet candidate's responsibility to dispose of the vehicle before starting at the U.S. Air Force Academy.
