Ralph Macchio, Chief Scientific Officer and SVP of Global Research & Development, will retire from Coty on June 30, 2017. As Chief Scientific Officer, Macchio was responsible for all scientific, global regulatory, and consumer affairs, and he is the author of several patents and publications.

Macchio returned as Daniel in the TV series Cobra Kai, where his rivalry with longtime opponent Johnny Lawrence is reignited 35 years later. In 2021, Macchio earned an Emmy nomination for outstanding comedy series as one of the show's executive producers.

To this day, Macchio still owns the car, and is the only known original prop from the films to reprise its appearance in Cobra Kai.

34 years after the first film, Daniel is happily married to his wife Amanda Steiner, and has two children, Samantha (born 2002) and Anthony (born 2005). He and his wife own the LaRusso Auto Group, a chain of car dealerships in the San Fernando Valley.

Ralph has a younger brother Steven. His father is of half Italian and half Greek descent, and his mother is of Italian ancestry. In a 1980 screen test, Macchio said his family was from Naples. In 1979, Macchio graduated from Half Hollow Hills High School West in Dix Hills, New York.

Macchio met his wife Phyllis Fierro when he was only 15 years old — before he became a household name. The couple have been married since 1987, and credit their long-lasting love to hard work and commitment. The pair have two children: Julia and Daniel.
