Federal regulations require that employees give their consent to receive the W-2 in an electronic format. Once consent is given it carries forward each year and does not need to be repeated.

W-2s may be sent by mail as a hard copy or made available online in electronic form, either through the employer directly or via their payroll provider.

If you do not receive your Form W–2 by the end of January, you should contact your Personnel/Payroll Office. In the event you lose your Form W–2, or require a duplicate copy you can download a copy from Cal Employee Connect under the "W-2" tab. You also can request one from the State Controller's Office.
