CAS is ranked higher overall as a school and does have a really strong CS program. However, CAS grants BAs in CS, whereas Tandon grants BSs, and that may make a difference to some employers.

NYU Tandon School of Engineering has an acceptance rate of 35% making it competitive for applicants while applying for programs.

Admission Requirements Admission to Master of Science programs requires a bachelor's degree and at least four years of college-level courses in a preparatory discipline from an institution acceptable to the NYU Tandon School of Engineering. An undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or better is required for admission.

INCREASE NON-CAS CREDIT LIMIT CAS students are allowed to take a total of 16 credits in other NYU schools and divisions. This includes courses taken for any NYU minors approved by CAS.

Domestic External Study Students either take one or more classes at another US institution in the same semester that they take classes at NYU, or they take all their classes outside NYU in a given semester. Domestic External Study is administered by the Gallatin Office of Academic Advising.

As an NYU student, you have the opportunity to supplement your academic program or pursue a special interest by taking classes in other divisions and schools.

May substitute up to 2 approved math classes. or CAS-approved substitutions at the appropriate level. Students are normally limited to at most 16 credits outside of the Tandon School of Engineering. Students may not take CS courses in CAS if equivalent courses are available in Tandon.
