Get Fuel Log Sheet

The log book is set up with 4 sections of 24 boxes, and each box represents an hour. The 4 sections break down into 4 categories: off-duty, sleeping, driving, and on-duty (not driving). Line your pen up with the correct box and section, and draw a horizontal line based on the time you performed the task.

Date every page, and record the time of the day for important time-sensitive entries, e.g., “turning on diffusion pump.” Always write directly into your log; NEVER work on loose scraps of paper, and then copy things into the book. Even “mistakes” often turn out to be important! For the same reason, do not use pencil.

Keep a notebook in your car to track your fuel use by hand. Use this notebook to write down how much fuel you purchase at each fill-up, along with any other information you want to keep track of. Make sure to keep a pen or pencil in your car as well, so you'll always have something to write in the notebook with.

The following formula is used to calculate fuel consumption in litres / 100kms, the most commonly used measure of fuel consumption. (Litres used X 100) ÷ km travelled = Litres per 100km.
