Essentially, student-athletes who repeat eighth grade for no reason will lose a year of eligibility in high school. The PIAA said that they have seen far too many kids repeating 8th grade to essentially red shirt for sports in high school so the board of directors voted 29-0 to pass the new rule.

Complete the PIAA Officials' Application and submit to PIAA Office or complete the online application. Persons wishing to become a junior official (16 & 17 year olds) should contact Kim Hill directly at (717) 697-0374 ext. *103 or via email at khill@piaa.org Application fees are waived for Junior Official applicants.

"PIAA requires all registered sports' officials to enforce the sportsmanship rules for coaches and contestants.

You must be enrolled in and in full-time attendance at a PIAA member school or a Charter or Cyber- Charter School, or be home-schooled. Generally, you are only eligible only at the school at which you are enrolled or, if a home-schooled student, at a public school in the public school district in which you reside.

As for the "few exceptions," that list includes: A change of residence necessitated by a change in employment. A school-initiated administrative transfer within a school district. A court ordered transfer. A change of schools caused by a military reassignment of a parent.

All student-athletes wishing to participate in a PIAA sanctioned sport must complete and submit the PIAA CIPPE form. If a student-athlete does not have this form submitted he is NOT allowed to participate in any athletic activity until all forms are submitted.
