All AmeriCorps members will need to complete and submit Part 1 of the AmeriCorps Exit Form prior to finishing their term of service. All members will be granted access to complete this form thirty days prior to their expected completion date.

Terminate my service early: You should select this option if you wish to exit VISTA prior to your expected completion date. If you select this option, you will be asked to enter the date of your termination and select your reason for terminating early.

How can I receive official verification of completion of my AmeriCorps term of service? Redirect to My AmeriCorps at https://my.americorps.gov/mp/login.do. Once logged in, click on "my service letter" on the left menu, and simply enter the applicable service term, address where verification is being sent, and print.

Americorps should have contingency plans if you decide to leave — volunteers often quit early after discovering how difficult the work is and how hard it is to live on the small stipend they're given. It is better to make this decision before you start rather than leave in the middle of volunteering.

Federal income tax and Social Security (FICA) deductions are withheld from the cash stipend at the time of payment. If you select the cash stipend, you cannot switch to the education award. Members accrue the end-of-service cash stipend at a rate of $4.94 per day (approximately $1,800 for a full year of service).
