A Class I Child Labor Certificate is required for the employment of 14 and 15 year old minors.

Are lunch breaks required by law in Alabama? Minors who are 14 or 15 years old must be given a 30-minute break if they work more than five continuous hours.

In its place, employers will be required to purchase a Certificate; Class I, to employ minors age 14 or 15 and/or Class II, to employee minors age 16 or 17. The certificate will be applied for online for a fee of $15.00 per certificate.
