A student with a 2.0 or higher total institutional GPA is considered to be in good standing. Reapplication and readmission to the University does not affect academic standing, except in the case where a student is suspended and reapplies after sitting out the required time.

At least 50% of all admitted students have GPAs in the top 10% of their high school class and scored over 1230 on the SAT and over 26 on the ACT. For applicants who are non-residents, getting into Texas A&M University is very difficult.

Texas A&M was established in 1876 as a military institution, and the Corps of Cadets has played an important part in our history and development. While membership is now voluntary, the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets form the largest uniformed body of students outside the U.S. military academies.
